Do you feel it? Do you see it? Do you notice the difference in the sun? Does your body call out to you for more rest?

Do you get anxious and weary?

Do you feel like shutting yourself in your room, and never leaving your bed?

Do you become more restless and agitated? Overwhelmed and overstimulated? Do you have panic attacks while you're trying to fall asleep at night?

If you're answering yes to any, or all of these...

You too, might be a victim of what MD's call "Seasonal Affective Disorder."

I love this time of year, but I dread the transition period.

The first week, to 2 when the shift happens between summer and fall... and fall into winter... When the days get noticeably shorter, the air gets cooler, and everything starts to die.

I feel the incessant urge to retreat. To pull back. To go quiet and shut down.

I never really thought too much about it, until recent years when I really started becoming more aware of myself and the world around me.

That these are natural feelings.

Natural transitions and periods of time when you really may not feel your best.

These are the natural rhythms of Mother Earth, and as my belief lies, we are all one. These are the natural cycles of the Universe, but we've been conditioned to treat it as a disorder. We've been told we need to fix it with a medication.

But what if we just honour it? What happens if we just let go, and listen to our bodies are telling us we need?

The system that we have been brought up in, is not design to treat the human spirit, but ti generate profit off disease and illness.

Maybe what we NEED is to pull back.

To withdraw. To become quiet and still. To rest & retreat.

Maybe we need friends, and therapy?

Happy hour and a good meal?

Honouring the transition from Summer to Fall, will look and feel different for everyone...

And if you're not feeling OK or 'like yourself' today, know that this is normal. Autumn Equinox will be here in 2 days. The energy is heavy, it is intense, and it is lingering.

it's OKAY to not feel OKAY.

Just like the seasons transition, we too, undergo a transformation... it's important to take care of & nourish yourself.

Fuel your body with wholesome, healthy, and colourful foods. Drink plenty of water, rest when you feel tired, and take in some fresh air. Connect to nature, go for a walk or a hike. Maybe enjoy a bike ride with your family.

-if you haven't already started supplementing Vitamin D, it's a great time to start.

Not just for your immune system, but for your mental state too.

You need to take care of you, and it is not selfish. Listen to your body.

Take a break.
